If you have been involved in any sort of accident that was not your fault, then it is important to do something about it very quickly. If you are at work, then you need to report it,using the accident book and any other company procedure. If you are not, then go to the doctor as soon as you can to get your injuries checked out, unless of course you have to go to hospital anyway.
The reason for doing this all so soon is in case you decide to use an accident claim company to make a compensation claim. You will not be likely to be thinking about this immediately you will be shocked and sore. However, if you do not report the accident or see a doctor quickly, there will be no evidence to show when and where the accident took place, This could work against you in court.
It can be difficult enough proving that the accident was not your fault but if you cannot even prove that the other party was involved at all, then it could be very difficult for you to win the case. Even if you know for sure that it was not your fault and when and where it happened, this does mean that the judge will be on your side. They will listen to both sides and it will be your word against someone else's. It could come down to how good your solicitor is, whether there were any witnesses or how likely your story sounds.
Therefore, if you report the accident as soon as you can and get medical treatment, then you will have a better case to put forward and will increase your chances of winning some compensation. This could be very important as the injury could be costly financially.
